The American Short Line and Regional Railroad Association (ASLRRA) is ready to break out the hardware to honor the safety efforts of its member railroads. Comprised of over 500 railroads, the association is dedicated to keeping “Safety Number One” and recognizes those railroads that have outstanding safety records and programs with the prestigious series of “JAKE” Awards.
Jake Awards are based on railroad employee hours, accidents, injuries, fatalities and lost time reported to the Federal Railroad Administration (FRA). The data is divided into the following two categories based on level of achievement:
♦ JAKE AWARD WITH DISTINCTION ~ awarded to railroads that achieve a FRA frequency rate of zero reportable injuries or accidents (cases).
♦ JAKE AWARD ~ awarded to railroads that achieve a FRA frequency rate that is below or equal to the ASLRRA industry average.

Rio Grande Pacific Corporation (RGPC) is committed to creating and maintaining a safe work environment and applauds its railroad employees for their dedication to safety and achievements in 2015.
