Precision Railway Equipment Company

remanufactured tampers

One of only two authorized Harsco remanufacturers

Precision Railway Equipment know first-hand the importance of providing its customers with high quality, affordable remanufactured tampers and track equipment. In 2009,  Rio Grande Pacific Corporation purchased remanufactured Harsco 6700 tampers from two different suppliers, only to be disappointed with the quality and performance of each machine. RGPC recognized a need in the marketplace for reliable but affordable like-new surfacing equipment, and in recognition of that need, Precision Railway Equipment Company was born.

With an executive team possessing over 90 years of combined working experience, Precision Railway Equipment set up a facility in a 40,000 square foot building in Independence, Kan. to begin remanufacturing Harsco 6700 tampers for the railroad industry. Over the last several years, PRE has rebuilt tampers for use throughout the United States, Mexico and Panama. PRE is a wholly-owned subsidiary of RGPC, and one of only two authorized Harsco tamper remanufacturers in the United States.
